Yong Saskia: A Handwritten Font for Modern Brand Campaigns

Designing a Product Launch with Yong Saskia

It was 2 a.m. and I was finalizing a product launch graphic for an online course campaign. The client wanted a warm, approachable feel that stood out in the crowded digital space. I reached for Yong Saskia, a handwritten font I had recently added to my design toolkit. The soft, natural strokes immediately gave the design a personal touch that felt intentional—not generic. It wasn’t just about aesthetics; it was about tone. Yong Saskia brought a sense of authenticity and creativity that aligned perfectly with the brand’s voice.

Understanding the Visual Style of Yong Saskia

Yong Saskia is a clean, modern handwritten font created using a tablet. Its strokes are smooth, with a slight bounce that feels organic rather than forced. Unlike some script fonts that can feel overly decorative or difficult to read, this font maintains clarity while still delivering a personal, hand-crafted vibe. It works well in both digital and print formats, making it a versatile choice for branding elements like signatures, logos, quotes, and short headlines.

From a marketing design perspective, the font’s personality is approachable and modern. It’s not too formal, which makes it ideal for brands targeting younger audiences or those in creative niches like lifestyle, wellness, or indie product spaces. It conveys a sense of intimacy and trust, which is crucial when building brand recognition in fast-scrolling feeds or cluttered email inboxes.

Testing Yong Saskia Across Campaign Assets

I used Yong Saskia across multiple campaign visuals: a YouTube thumbnail, Instagram carousel headers, and a Pinterest pin series. On the YouTube thumbnail, it performed well as a headline overlay—its legibility held up even on smaller mobile previews. For Instagram Reels covers, the font added a personal touch to teaser text without overwhelming the visual hierarchy. In the Pinterest campaign, where visuals need to be both eye-catching and informative, Yong Saskia helped highlight key phrases like “Limited Time Offer” and “New Course Out Now” with a soft, inviting tone.

One thing I noticed was how well it worked in email banners and landing page headers. Since email clients can sometimes render fonts unpredictably, I made sure to export the text as a web-safe image. The result was a consistent, branded look across devices. It’s not a font you’d use for body copy, but as a headline or callout font, it shines.

Readability and Mobile Optimization Tips

When designing for mobile, especially in fast-scrolling environments like Instagram Stories or Facebook ads, legibility is key. Yong Saskia works best at larger sizes—think 24px and above—where its curves and spacing remain clear. Avoid using it for small labels or captions. It also performs better with high contrast against background images. I found that using a light-colored version of the font on dark overlays worked well, as long as there was enough spacing and no busy texture behind the text.

For thumbnails or social media previews, I recommend pairing it with a bold sans serif for secondary text. This creates a strong visual hierarchy while maintaining a cohesive design language. Also, keep in mind that its handwritten nature means it may not be ideal for formal brand messaging or long-form content. Stick to short, impactful phrases to maximize clarity and engagement.

When Not to Use Yong Saskia

While it’s a powerful design asset, Yong Saskia isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution. I wouldn’t recommend it for dense information layouts, legal disclaimers, or corporate reports where readability and structure are critical. It also doesn’t hold up well at very small sizes or in situations where the background is complex or patterned. If your campaign requires a more formal or technical tone, consider pairing it with a clean serif or sans serif font instead of using it alone.

Font Pairing and Design Workflow

One of the best ways to use Yong Saskia is as a display font paired with a more structured typeface. I often pair it with Montserrat or Lato for supporting text in Instagram posts or digital ads. This combination keeps the design modern and readable while still allowing the handwritten element to stand out. For a more editorial or lifestyle feel, pairing it with a serif like Playfair Display adds a touch of elegance without sacrificing warmth.

Before using it in client work or commercial projects, I always double-check the font license. Make sure it’s cleared for use in digital ads, template packs, or branded merchandise. Also, verify that it includes multiple weights, ligatures, and multilingual support if your campaign targets a global audience. These small details can make a big difference in the final output and legal compliance.
